Veering somewhat from the usual recommendation in this section, Leaf in Liverpool is a 21st-century tea shop. It provides a relaxed and welcoming environment for a wide customer base, and high-quality loose leaf tea. “We feel we have created a very welcoming space for freelancers in the community, who often settle in to spend a day working individually or in groups. It’s great to be a part of this very active community of creative thinkers,” says Sarah Lovell, a member of the team behind Leaf.
The quest has always been to bring loose leaf tea to the people of Liverpool and to combine this with a beautiful space where people can meet, work and also attend events. Leaf has now grown and moved to the heart of Bold Street where it is spread over two floors, providing ample space to set up and get some work done. “We wanted a multi-purpose space that could offer good quality food and drink both day and night, and facilitate a wide range of events in a distinctive setting,” says Sarah. Events hosted include gigs, book launches, art classes, a vintage market and even a Pudding Club. The multi-purpose aspect of the space brings people from many different backgrounds and the tea (and food) on offer means it’s tempting to stay all day and into the night.
